BACK TO BACK MUSICAL GENIUS!
With the crazy buzz both Broken Social Scene and Sea Ray are causing, i can't believe we actually got tix and got to see them back to back at the Mercury Lounge. Sooo freakin' good, both bands put on really incredible performances!
First up were Broken Social Scene, and having never seen them before and heard only a couple of their songs, was comepletely blown away, not only by the fact that they had nine people squeezed onto the small Mercury Lounge stage, but how great and full the sound they produced was! If i can compare them to any other bands, I'd have to say they sound kinda like a cross between +/- and Sea Ray, who totally kicked major ass as tonights headliners!
Sea Ray played a couple of new songs from their forthcoming album, Stars At Noon (Out in October), as well as a bunch of older material... that's never sounded better, and never looked better—thanks to the intriguing video projections.
Overall, the whole evening was saturated with color, overflowing with melody, and sprawling with a groove that seemed in synch with the many waves of my brain...
