AMAZING DISCOVERY OF THE MONTH!
Actually...it should be DISCOVERIES. I went to the Mercury Lounge Tonight to see the Starlight Mints, and arriving early got to see two amazing bands: April March, and The Like. Believe me when i say (and in no way am i exagerating):

THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!

THE LIKE, a three piece from Tennessee...Was sooo incredible, nothing prepared me for the amazing sound they produced...Like a combination of Blondie, The Swirlies, PJ Harvey, and Liz Phair all rolled into one...They were sooo FUCKING GOOD! I can't recommend them enough!

Next up was APRIL MARCH, who couldn't help but make the crowd dance, and who, i must admit after looking up on the internet, I really feel ashamed for not knowing (I swear, its like not knowing who Stereolab is for crying out loud!). With a pretty prolific discography, and career to her name, I'd describe what I heard tonight as music with a composition one part Astrud Gilberto, one part Stereolab, and 110% Genius!

The grand finale was The Starlight Mints, that in sweet form, played lots of new material from their incredible new album, Built On Squares and a bunch of Mints classics from The Dream That Stuff Was Made Of. Sadly i was unable to get any kick ass Lomographs, and capture the amazing performances tonight, because a certain somebody, who shall remain nameless...decided to ditch me for Shakespeare In The Park...i guess next time i'll just have to dust off, and put to use my old CANON AE-1...
