AT THE DEPT OF FORGOTTEN SONGS
I've been meaning to post this for a couple of weeks now... It was on February 15th, that I discovered Jens Lekman (Aproximately 3 days after he played the Mercury Lounge & I missed it!). I picked up a copy of his Maple Leaves EP, which I had been reading about for months, at Etherea Records. By the following day, I was completely hooked! The four songs, very quickly became totally not enough! It was then at the website of his record label, Secretly Canadian, that I discovered "The Department of Forgotten Songs".

A repository of demos, unreleased and hard-to-find material beloved by friends, fans and everyone at Secretly Canadian, "The Dept", I realized is the perfect fix, to hold me over until I have enough dough to pick up the rest of his catalogue. I should also mention, it is also a great introduction to the music of Jens Lekman, and a testament to why MP3 technology, for lack of a better word, RULES!

So anyways, I won't bother you with any steep parallels to other musicians, just go to the site, download the tracks, and hear him for yourself: Jens Lekman's Department of Forgotten Songs
