Hello Everyone!

We trust everyone is having a good new years so far...So another Groundhog's Day has past and the world's greatest weather forecaster, Punxsutawney Phil, has yet again predicted six more weeks of winter! So Cheers to that!
New Year, New stuff:
For the coming year we are planning a couple of things including:
1. A nice site redesign.
2. Returning to our primeval roots, lots more hunting & gathering at the local record shops...therefore, much more music updates.
3. We've been talking about it for ages, we know, we've even promised quite a few to some (we haven't forgot!), and not one to back down on our words, RADIO ATREYU T-SHIRTS will be made THIS YEAR! - Even if my (benny) over zealous vision must be compromised...
So in keeping with the music updates (#2), we introduce the Snowyday Mix!
First, it's a tribute of sorts to the 'Snow Days' of my yesteryears, back in grade school, when inclimate weather out in the burbs means one thing: No School!
Second, it's a tribute to the really great and unique music that was out and about then. The time period is roughly four years between 1988-1992: Never really labeled, this Post New Wave, Pre-Grunge/Alternative music phase of pop music was amazing! One listen to the noisy, feedback, dance beat entrenched, electronic sampled, cascading-shimmery guitar, spacey, dub, and Hip Hop-DJ influenced, 'pop' music from that time and you uncover a wealth of similarities and influences on today's flourishing indie scene. Some of the labels given to the music: shoe-gazing, no-wave, art/college rock and acid house were accurate but were ultimately borrowed from other 'scenes' and genres, that many of the bands began and/or continued to play within. Much of the music came from a variety of places including the US, UK, Canada, Sweden, and arguably their influences can be heard the world over today.
And so it is with much anticipation and excitement, that we broadcast this most excellent mix of classic tracks on the next snowyday! So stay tuned to the local weather updates on our info page for exact playtimes...
